The Surgery

As some of you already know Tytan went in for his G tube Surgery. We were in the Hospital for 10 very long days. He first went under for an endoscopy and to put in a ph probe. They were supposed to go in after the ph probe study (24 hours later) and have the surgeon install his G tube and his Nissen but they discovered he had severe Pneumonia. We had to wait a few days to get that under control before he could go under the knife for his surgery that I have been waiting so long for. The surgery went really well and I know it was all due to so many prayers and much fasting that truly made all of this go so well. I think the hardest thing in the world is to see your baby in so much pain and not be able to do anything for him, but I had to keep reminding myself that it was for his good and it can only get better from here on out. Since we've been home he is on a 24 hour a day tube hooked from an iv pole to his stomach. Chasing a 16 month old around a house with an iv pole all day is a lot of hard work. Keep in mind the tubing only allows for about a 2-3 foot lead between the two of us. Trust me I sleep very well at night. For those of you that don't know what a G tube is, its a feeding tube that goes directly into his stomach. So instead of my baby starving every day he is able to finally get the nutrition he needs without it hurting him or giving him Pneumonia again. A Nissen also called a Fundo Plication (I totally just murdered the spelling of that) is when the surgeon takes the top of his stomach and wraps part of it around itself and stitches it together so now Tytan won't be able to throw anything up any more. The crazy thing about that is now he has to burp through the hole in his stomach. I have to open the G tube once a day, hook up a special decompression tube and let him burp. It is totally crazy but I am so grateful for all of this. Just think to add to all of this I have a baby due in 7 weeks. Wow life is foing to be one big party soon!!!Right after the Endoscopy and inserting the ph probe up his nose and into his stomach. He is still out cold from the procedures. Close up of what the ph probe looks like. I didn't get a pic. of the small box that this tube is connected to. A ph Probe measures the amount of acid in his stomach and esophugus. The hospital was awesome they must have felt bad that we were in the hospital over Thanksgiving so Tigger came to cheer all the kids up. Tytan was in love with Tigger. Look how tall my boy is. He is still in the 95th percent for height. If only we could get his weight up there too.Picture of his stomach before surgery. Sad to know it will never look like this again. His belly button looks totaly different.A little after surgery we had to let his stomach drain. I'm not sure why because he wasn't allowed to eat for 48 hours before. This is the same tube I use every time I burp him.Hanging out at home hooked to our beloved IV pole. In the blue bag is all of his milk which runs through that pump then into his stomach.Close up of his belly after surgery. The cut on the top middle is where they put in the Nissen. The two on the sides and his belly button are where they cut to put in the G tube. Obviously the large plastic/rubber thing sticking out of him is the G tube itself. His stomach looks a little bloated beacuse his stomach is getting used to all of this food.
Super close up of the G tube. That piece is stuck on there all the time. I am just super paranoid he is going to pull it out.

Roaring Lion!

Here is a video of Tytan roaring in his lion costume! Tyte gets really excited when Daddy calls so you can hear him asking if dad is calling. Sorry the toys are everywhere but He loves to pull them all out of the toy box. P.S. Please ignore my voice on the video, I hate hearing my own voice!!

HALLOWEEN

Tytan was the cutest little lion for Halloween. It was hard to get a good picture of him in his costume but I tried. Pete's school had a trick or treating fiestival so Tytan and I had to check it out. It was actually really fun. They had trick or treating in the rooms and then had games, a jumping castle, and a giant blow up slide. I think I snacked on more garbage then should be allowed. His costume was so hot I had to change him so he could go play! He loved the jumping castle so much He didn't want to come out. He kept running up to the side and Roaring at me. I felt too pregnant to climb up to the top of the giant slide with Tytan so my friend Amber was nice enough to do it for me. Thanks Amber!!
A rear view of my cute little lion.
Visiting Daddy at work before going to Party. Poor dad was stuck working not playing. Sorry the next few pics. all are kinda the same but he was such a cute lion I couldn't just pick one. Notice the shiner on his right eye. We were playing hide and seek and he tried hiding under my bed but hit his eye on the bed frame.

Room for Baby

I've been a little anxious to get started on the new baby's room. Little by little Pete and I are converting the office into our little boy's bedroom. We moved the desk and computer into our bedroom and got rid of tons of other random junk that we had stored in there. As soon as the room was empty I was so excited to get started on painting it. I love love love painting a room. It just feels so clean when its done. So I decided this room was going to be light blue, dark blue, and red. After drawing out a few ideas I finally decided on this setup of the three colors. I really like the final look. Pete really likes it too he just laughs and says it looks like the top of a tube sock. I'll have to post more pics. when the whole room is complete (curtains, pictures, furniture...) Now the wait is on for our still nameless little boy. Three months and counting!

This weekend we went on an off roading/camping trip with a bunch of Pete's buddies from Tucson and Vegas. We went somewhere in between Jerome and Prescott Valley. It was absolutely Perfect. The Pine Trees smelled divine and it was only an hour and fourty five minutes away. The only slight draw back was it was freezing. I was so excited for the cold but it got down to the thirties at night and for me that is too cold without a heater. Everyone went off roading during the day but since I'm pregnant and have a one year old that was out of the question for me. Pete was nice enough to stay back at camp with me. We got a lot of family time which we so desperetly needed. It was nice to go hiking with the family in the awesome cool air. I already miss the pine trees but I think my bed beats an air mattress any day. They both had to taste the bumper to make sure it was still ok. SICK!! Sticks, rocks, and anything covered in dirt were his favorite part of the trip. Of course Diesel (aka Tytan's BFF) had to come join in on the fun! Pete just couldn't resist eating his neck. The only picture I had of me but here is a pic. of my baby belly. Sorry not the best shot! He pointed at every bird that flew by and would make a Caw Caw noise. In our family all birds make the Caw noise. Its just easier that way. What little boy can go camping without his swing? I He loved the buggy and it cracked me up he looked like an ant compared to those tires. It was so cold Tytan had to wear so many layers. You can see in these pictures he has on a sweater hoodie, a beanie, and his jump suit hoodie. His nose and hands were still ice cold of course.

After a long weekend of fun he was totally pooped!!

Today we had our Ultrasound of our ever growing baby. Before we went in the room Pete and I made bets on the gender. He bet it was a girl and I said boy. Well I was right! It's a strong little Boy!! I am so excited to have two little boys so close together. Hopefully they will be the best of friends. Now the hard part is naming this little guy. If any of you have cute names you would like to offer I am more than willing to listen. I usually like names that are different but not totally bizarre. So please help!! We didn't get any good pics. of our mini man because I am already far enough along that he was so smashed it was hard to get any. So sorry no alien pics. this post.

MY HUNK!!

I know I know I know I have not blogged for an eternity. After reading a few complaints I decided I better get back in the game and do better. I figured since Pete has been so good to me while I've been sick I would copy some of you who wrote about your awesome hubbies and let all of you know a little about mine. *By the way I'm half way done with being pregnant (20 weeks) and we are finding out what gender (since that's the only reason for an ultrasound of course) on the 17th. We had to wait so long to find out because with Pete's busy schedule that's the only day he could squeeze in an extra hour to come with me. Who is your man? Peter Andrew Nielson (kinda funny his initials smell PAN so I call him Peter Pan sometimes. Which by the way is not his favorite nickname. How long have we been together? 31/2 years. We dated for a year because Pete lived in Tucson and I lived in Mesa and we had to wait for him to finish up at UofA before we got hitched. Yes of course I made him move to me instead of moving to him. Sorry Tucson is just not for me. How old is your man? He is a whoppin 251/2 years old. Who eats more? He definitely eats more. He is my little piggy. He once ate 16 pieces of pizza and didn't even barf. How on earth does he stay so fit? I work hard and he eats everything not fair. Who said I love you first? He did. Who weighs more? He does! Who sings better? Positively him. I can't carry a tune in a bucket. Who's smarter? Street smart-me, book smart-him. Who's temper is worse? Sadly to say mine. Who does the laundry? Me Who does the dished? Mostly me but he really helps a ton with them. Thanks babe I appreciate it more than you know. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me Who's feet are bigger? His Who's hair is longer? Mine Who is better with the computer? Hands down him. He seems to know everything. Who pays the bills? Him. I seriously don't even know how much each bill is each month he is so on top of things. Plus I think he knows it would just stress me out so I don't ask he doesn't tell. Who cooks dinner? Always me. His idea of a good dinner is a frozen corn dog. Who drives when together? Him Who pays when out to dinner? Always him Who is more stubborn? sad but Me Who is first to admit when wrong? Totally him Who's parents do you see more? I see mine more and he sees his more. Who kissed who first? He kissed me first. After a totally cheesy but cute pick up line I crumbled and fell for it. Who asked who out first? He did. What did you do? He surprised me and drove up from Tucson then we went cliff jumping at Gyselia (sp) BBQ Steak then went and hiked "A" mountain by ASU and ate ice cream and watched the sun rise. Yes we stayed out all night but only because we were having such a good conversation we lost track of time. Who's more sensitive? Totally me Who's taller? Him by 5 inches Who's more indecisive? Him by a Long shot. He likes to really ponder everything. I am a do on a whim kinda person. Who has more siblings? Me. He has 3 I have 11. Pretty close right? Who wears the pants? I have to go with Amber's answer and say we both have a leg in the jeans. Who is the best Husband in the entire world? No question about it Mine!! He is such a great guy I couldn't ask for more. Love your Guts Babe!!

MEXICO!!

For the week of 4th of July the Lines Family went to Mexico for a little family fun. When I say Lines Family that includes my 11 bros. & Sis. 1 foster bro. All spouses and children and of course my parents. All that is over 50 people partying in good ol' Mexico!! We had an absolute blast. We stayed at the Grand Mayan Palace Resort which if any of you are going to Mexico I would say you have to stay there. It is about 20 miles east of Rocky Point and the most beautiful resort and beach ever. Anyway...Its an awesome resort that I would recommend to anyone and everyone. We were all spoiled rotten while we were there. All the girls went and had Swedish massages and the boys all went golfing. The boys also played every sport imaginable on the beach. I guess when you have enough boys for an entire football team its hard not to play together. A lot of people also went snorkeling and fishing. A lot of the kids caught fish and crabs with their bare hands. Their parents were actually nice enough to cook them up for dinner each night. Tytan loved the water especially the ocean and the sand. The first time I set him down in the sand he took off straight for the water and just kept on going as if he had been there a thousand times. I had to post the pic. of him crying in the water because it shows how clear and perfect the water was. The picture when he is doing his model pose in the pool also shows how skinny my little boy is these days. If only he would eat a Twinkie. I can't make you believe that with that many people there weren't any mishaps. We only had two problems that we could have done without. 1. My nephew Tyler slipped at the pool and knocked out 3 teeth. We were all just glad they were all baby teeth still. Second My nephew Hudson fell off his stroller and cracked open his chin. We were very lucky to have a doctor on sight that stitched him up right there. Besides those two things everything was PERFECT!! I was so bummed we had to come home to reality. I only posted a few pics. I'll have to do more later.

BIG SURPRISE!!!

I think Heavenly Father knows how much I love surprises because he has just given Peter and I another one. Yes as you can tell by the picture we are expecting another baby. Of course we are very excited and know how blessed we are to be able to have another very special baby bless our home. I am guessing I am about 2 months along but am having such a different experience then I did with Tytan. With him I was barely ever sick, just tired and I couldn't ever get enough water, I was always so thirsty. With this pregnancy I am dead tired and am sick all day every day. The thought of food or water makes me nauseated. I don't know why I am feeling so different but I know for sure this baby is going to be an easy on once it comes. Since Tyte has given me so many worries ever since he was born and none while in my belly I figure its only fair this one has to be just the opposite. Cross your fingers. Tytan and this munchkin will only be 18 months apart which isn't super close but I know I'm in for some busy days ahead. Did any of you feel different with a different gender or just a different pregnancy? This pic. isn't very good but it was the only one I had.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!

I know I'm a little late but I figured its better than never. So I just had to wish the greatest husband in the world a very heart felt Happy Father's Day!! He is truly the greatest Daddy and husband. He is the most loving father any little boy could ever ask for. Pete works and goes to school full time so in other words he is a very very busy guy. Even though he is really on the go all day he never walks in the front door without giving me a hug and a kiss and giving his son a lot of daddy play time. He loves his little boy with all of his heart and would do anything he possibly could for him. He could never understand how much all of his hard work really means to me. Thank you Babe for all you do for our little family and I love your guts. You're the Best!! Happy Belated Father's Day! Sorry for the nudity but this is my all time fav. picture of my boys and I figured it shows how much Pete really loves Tytan even when he was tiny.

Denim has finally arrived!!!

Congrats Damon & Jenna!! Their little girl finally arrived on Monday May 28th. After many endless days of waiting DENIM finally decided to bless this family with a girl. She totally looks like Jenna to me. As much as I wanted her to look like a Lines I guess I'll settle for a Bates. (J/k Jenn, Ang. and Krista. ) Much to all of our astonishment Denim weighed in at a whopping 9 pounds. Way to go Jenn!! Isn't she the cutest!! Since Jenn no longer has a blog if any of you wish to leave her a comment I'll make sure she sees it.

SLIM

Tytan's G.I. is extremely worried about his weight. He is so under weight he has finally given me an ultimatum I either put 1 pound of weight on him in the next 2 weeks or he is putting a feeding tube in. I know some of you are thinking "only 1 measley little pound" but I swear that is a huge amount in Tytan's world. I have mixed feelings about this entire ultimatum. I would love a feeding tube just so I wouldn't have to hold him down and force feed him every few hours, but I also could never ever handle my baby having to have a tube up his nose for weeks on end. Last time they made him wear arm braces so he couldn't bend his arms. I think that was way harder to watch then having to deal with his feeding issues. Any way so as of last week all he ate was pudding, butter (yes you read it correctly Butter), and Pediasure. The doc. nixed the pudding and now he is on a straight liquid diet again. Only melted butter and Pediasure which is feed to him via syringe. I hate having to do this to him but I know the alternative route and I am not going for it. This pic. I posted is him actually enjoying a good chocolate pudding before the doc. so cruelly took that away. This entry is labeled "Slim" because that is his nickname around our house now for obvious reasons.

One of a kind

I saw this fun little thing on Ginger's page so I figured I'd give it a try. To my delight I learned I'm one of a kind. I'm the only one in the US with my first and last name. It always seemed like everyone had the name Meggan or Nielson so I figured at least someone should have the two combined. 3,019 people in the U.S have Meggan as there first name and its the 3,176th most popular. There are 15,789 people with Nielson as their last name and its the 2,415th most popular. This is fun and easy give it a try!!

New family pic.

We finally got an updated family picture. You have to love the cheap Target photo center. Tytan also got a pic. for his eight month scrapbook page. Tytan was exhausted the entire photo shoot so we were lucky to get these two with him happy. He wouldn't even crack a semi smile.

Check out my Slide Show!

Hospital Stay

Tytan finally had his long awaited tests to see why he won't eat, drink, and gain weight. He first had an endoscopy and a biopsy taken of his esophagus, stomach, and upper intestines. The endoscopy showed that all three of those areas are bleeding, swollen, and have white lesions on them. I felt so bad to know I've been forcing him to eat but it is hurting him so bad. The doctor was very vague and says he won't tell me anything else until the biopsy results come back which will be hopefully the end of this week. Tytan then had to stay in the hospital 24 hours so they could do a PH probe test. A PH probe is a tube that goes up his nose and into his esophagus to measure how much acid he has in there. He was actually very good at not touching it until a half hour before they were supposed to take it out he pulled it out himself. I was so embarrassed to tell the doctor but it all worked out. Thanks for all of you that were so helpful while we were at the hospital. I really appreciate it so much!!

Fun Painting Projects

A few of you have been asking to see pics. of the paint in my kitchen. (Since I live so far away no one ever drives all the way out to my casa.) I figured while I was posting a pic. of my kitchen I'd do the fun paint in my master bedroom and Tytan's room too. I tried to cut out as many decorations as possible so you could see the paint. I used to hate the diamonds in the kitchen but they are growing on me. Two walls in the kitchen are red and the other two diamonds. At first I felt like I was living in the circus but now the bright colors make me feel happy every time I'm in there. The master bedroom is actually painted with wood stain. Crazy but I saw it on trading spaces and I loved it. It makes it look like it is faux (sp.) painted but its not. The only down fall of wood stain is that it smells terrible. But I thought the finished product was worth it.
